I am Professor of Artificial Intelligence in Remote Sensing at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. My research combines methods from AI and Computer Vision with Earth observation problems, leveraging scalable Deep Learning approaches to extract knowledge from remote sensing data. A core motivation for my research is to build methods for efficiently learning tasks applied to Earth observation data.

In my previous life, I worked as an astronomer, exploring asteroids and comets in our Solar System and building open source software tools to make astronomers' lifes easier.
